Landscape Philosophy
A landscape should feel inseparable from the architecture it surrounds. Michael's work begins with the structure of the land — its topography, existing trees, and the relationship between house and garden. Paths, terraces, walls, and plantings are arranged to reinforce this structure, allowing the landscape to unfold gradually rather than reveal itself all at once.
The approach draws heavily from European garden traditions, where proportion and restraint shape the experience of a place over time. Planting is used to create rhythm and seasonality, while architectural elements provide permanence and order.
Rather than imposing a design upon the land, the intention is to guide it — creating gardens that feel settled, balanced, and increasingly beautiful as they mature.
